The motto of the HVG-ORAC Periodical and Book Publishing House is: “a sure foothold in questions of economics and law.” The press publishes books and specialised journals covering these areas, with the range of topics covered expanding each year. A few of the available titles: Hungarian Labour Law, Civil Procedural Law, Rules for Administrative Procedure, Social Insurance, and Civil Law - a commentary for practical use. All books are designed to provide up-to-date, practical information. Also available are a range of simplified handbooks: the Pensions law handbook, the Labour protection law handbook, and Taxation law 1997. The press has also published two special series: the Law Reports, which contains guiding principles issued to the nation’s courts by the Supreme Court, the other a Handbook of judicial practice, which deals with legal practice topic-by-topic. A large proportion of the publisher’s activities are devoted to a variety of specialised periodicals, dealing with judicial decisions, economics, law, corporate news, taxation, and customs and excise. HVG is the abbreviation of the name of Heti Világgazdaság {Weekly World of Economics}.
