Address of Publishing House: Year of Foundation: 1987 ISBN: (963) 7810 The Szabad Tér {Free Space} Press produces publications on a wide variety of themes. Towards the end of the 1980s it caused a great sensation with publication of historical documentary works on the changes in Russia, Hungary’s 1956 uprising, the tragedy of one-time prime minister Imre Nagy, and the last days of the Kádár era in Hungary. Besides its support of contemporary Hungarian literature, the press’s areas of interest include the theatre, sport, music, film and the fine arts. It has also produced outstandingly valuable documentary albums presenting the life’s work of two world-renowned Hungarian film directors, Zoltán Huszárik and Zoltán Fábri. Among its published works of fiction by foreign authors, perhaps the most successful so far have been the novels of Christine Arnothy.
