Address of Publishing House: Year of Foundation: 1988 ISBN: (963) 7846 The JLX Press began publishing before Hungary’s change of political system in 1989. It committed itself to the publication of foreign, mainly American, British and international best sellers in Hungarian translation, books which up until then had been unattainable, and indeed unimaginable for the domestic readership. At the same time, JLX strives to make works of Hungarian authors available in Western bookshops, literary treasures it considers of the greatest value in representing Hungarian cultural traditions to the world. In this way, the JLX Press hopes to play a pioneering role in building a cultural bridge between Hungarian and Western publishing.
